It's finally feeling like the holidays!

It's time to get into the Christmas Spirit in the Freihaut household! We are planning on putting up our Christmas tree this evening. While I can't wait for the tree to go up, I can definitely wait for Cameron's recent path of destruction to take it down! This past week we broke out the Christmas books to get Cam excited about the holidays! His favorite book by far is the one Grandpa and Grandma O'Brien and Aunt Whitney gave him last year of them reading him 'The Night Before Christmas'. He loves hearing them read to him through the book. Whenever he hears my dad's voice reading her says "Nana" and looks at the door thinking he is here. No matter how hard my dad has tried to teach Cam papaw.. he is just plain Nana to Cam! It is pretty funny.

Cam listening to 'The Night Before Christmas'

Last Saturday, Cameron and I went to my mom's house for our annual Christmas Cookie day! Cam got to visit with all of his cousins (except Nate who had a football game) and had a blast "decorating" the cookies. Cam's idea of decorating was more of un-decorating them and eating the toppings. His favorite treat of the day were Craisins. Needless to say I went out and bought him some the next day! Below is our favorite cookie we made.. Brobee!!!

Cameron's vocabulary continues to increase and he amazes me each day with what he says. He has started to string two words together and will ask "What's that?" and most recently he told me "Mama poo" after he did the deed. I love watching him talk more and understand more of what we say to him. He is very into singing and dancing and sang me a song this morning about a dog and a duc.. quack quack quack. It's adorable I must say.

What is not so adorable is his desire to destroy anything in his path! Which brings me back to the Christmas tree. I have thought about putting an enclosure around the tree but then I thought he's a toddler.. I should let him and ourselves experience his toddlerhood to the fullest! So I fully expect to be rehanging ornaments and rewrapping presents daily but that's ok because I want him to experience everything Christmas at his current destructive way! Should be interested to say the least!

I will leave you with a few more pics to ogle over until next time when I update our tree went through the front window or something!

Down goes the toddler!

Cam just took a nose dive, literally. Poor little guy has a pretty cut on his perfectly adorable little nose. This is due to Cameron climbing everything!!! The kid is unstoppable but oh so lovable. A few days ago I attempted to give Cam his first unofficial haircut. I think I did a pretty good job considering I was terrified of stabbing a wiggling toddler while wielding scissors. At least he isn't constantly frightening me with a possible ear infection every time he messes with his ears due to his hair tickling him.

Everyday he amazes me and I love him more than I ever imagined possible. His sweet little kisses and "mamas" get me every time.

A big shout out to all the veterans past, present, and future! Happy Veteran's Day!

Helping Aunt Whitty with her homework. Yea my
kid does college level work already!! haha

Water bottles everywhere! He loves the kitchen lol

Love to all!

It's November Already?

Helping Mommy clean out the pumpkin!

I can't believe it is November already! It seems like this year has just flown by! The past couple of weeks have been so much fun with Cam. He is definitely "talking" more and thinks he is invincible! He had a lot of fun on Halloween dressed up as a dinosaur! I must say, he was the cutest stinking dino I ever saw! On the 29th we ventured out of the neighborhood to take Cameron trick or treating at my family's houses. Saturday night we pulled him in his wagon around the neighborhood! He had fun and mommy and daddy are enjoying the candy he can't eat!

Our sweet dino! Rooaarrrr!!

Today, it is just Cam and I on our own. Cory went to Bloomington, IL to help his brother move into their new house! I can't wait to visit and see it! Cam and I are are going to a baby shower later and then to a wedding reception this evening. It should be a fun day!

Since it is November, I suppose it is time to start getting ready for Christmas! Thankfully, I already have pretty much all of Cam's Christmas done! We are still trying to figure out what we are going to do about the tree. I have a feeling it will be Cameron's favorite new "toy" and will cause some problems.. We thought about a baby fence or something to put around it but I'm not sure what we are going to do.

A little snack time dance on the picnic table!

At Yo Gabba Gabba Live!!

Cameron's new thing is that he always wants to "read" his books. He just brought me one so I better wrap this up! Will update soon!

My baby is a toddler!

I know it has been months since I have updated the blog but I couldn't bring myself to write about one of the things that happened to our family. Sadly, I suffered a miscarriage near the beginning of August. It was the hardest thing I have ever been through and it has taken quite some time to feel comfortable mentioning it. While we are saddened and heartbroken, we know that God has a plan for everyone and that the miscarriage was in our plan. We look forward to keep trying to expand our family and give Cameron a little brother or sister.

On to happier news! Our baby isn't so much a baby anymore! Cameron is up and all over the place over the past few months. We have loved watching him take his first few tentative steps that turned into awkward baby toddles. Since about 14 months, Cam has been an expert walker and runs around like a crazy boy! He has learned so much in the past couple of months and it amazes me the new things he discovers he can do each and every day. He knows quite a few body parts now like nose, belly, toes, ears, and is recognizing others. He is also an expert block builder but his favorite thing to do is knock down block towers! He is also saying many more words than before. In addition to mama and dada, he knows dog, hi, bye, "who is it" when someone opens the door at daycare, huh, no, block, and a few more. It's amazing how even when he talks not real words how we can sometimes understands what he means by his movements and tone of his voice.

This past weekend Cory and I along with my parents took Cam to Pumpkin Works. Cam loved playing in the straw maze and going through tunnels and slides. It actually turned out to be quite a cheap activity since the only thing we spent money on was two tickets for me and Cory to take Cam through the corn maze. Cameron got to sit in a wagon while we pulled him in the maze. He wasn't so sure about the corn being so tall at first but then started to enjoy the wagon ride. We got pretty lost but thanks to my (Courtney) awesome navigational skills we made it out! Cameron also got to try pumkin ice cream for the first time there. He loved it! He also loved the bites of mamaw and papaw O'Brien's ice cream flavors that he cleverly got to taste! It was definitely a fun trip and the weather was perfect for it!

The most exciting thing we have done lately was to go to the Yo Gabba Gabba Live! show last night in Indianapolis. We were a little nervous about taking him since he is so young. We thought he might get scared or fall asleep, but he absolutely loved it! The first 15 minutes of the show he kind of just sat and stared at the stage like he couldn't believe what he was seeing, but after that he danced and clapped in his seat the rest of the show. Mommy and daddy also really enjoyed the show! Cameron made out pretty good from the gift kiosks too. He got a new shirt, a cd, a brobee keychain and a poster for the playroom! He also got to take home one of the balloons that kept bonking him in the head lol. Overall, it was a great time and I am thankful that my parents bought the tickets so we could take him!

I have a lot of pictures from the past couple of months and I will try to upload some by the end of the weekend! As always, I promise to try and post more often but it seems we just get so busy that I completely forget about the blog. I would like to eventually be able to take 10 minutes each day just to write a recap of what is going on but things will have to slow down a bit for me to get to that point, especially with big holidays coming up the next two months!

Pictures coming soon.....!!!!!

Where's your belly???

Look Look! I'm actually updating within a week of my last post! This is a major improvement that I plan to continue. I figure it would be easier to write shorter updates more often that super long one once in a while.

Today at work, I got a text from Cory saying that Cameron pointed to his belly! We have been practicing for a week now "Where's your belly??" and putting his hands on his belly. Well he finally got the hang of it and now when you ask him his hands automatically go to his belly. He looks so proud of himself. I loved seeing him do it when I got home from work.

My parents invited us to out to dinner at Applebees tonight with them and my sister. We never turn down a free dinner! Cameron had his normal grilled cheese, applesauce, and spinach and artichoke dip (which he loves). My mom surprised us when she told Cameron she had bought him Yo Gabba Gabba Live! tickets for the show in Indy in October! For those of you who know Cam, you know that he is obsessed with Yo Gabba Gabba and all we have to do to calm him down or keep him occupied is start one of our 35 DVR'd episodes. For some reason he is mesmerized by it. So we are super excited to be able to take him this fall! I hope that he will enjoy it, but I am scared that they won't be doing it much longer since a lot of toys have been disappearing from the stores so I don't know if Gabba is about to end. Plus I want him to go before he outgrows liking the show. So THANK YOU GRANDMA AND GRANDPA O'BRIEN!!!

Cam is super good with helping daddy mow the yard!!!

Cory's mom is coming in town tomorrow to watch Cam so Cory can get a lot of yardwork done! Cameron loves having her here so he will be excited tomorrow when she shows up! We don't have too many plans for the weekend, which is great because it seems like we have either been super busy in or out of town the past 2 months. It will be nice to actually relax! Maybe I will update Sunday night on our very chill weekend! Until then... :)

Exciting News and Updates!

Surprise!!!!

Cameron is going to be a big brother! We are absolutely ecstatic that we will be welcoming a new addition to our family come March 2011! As far as I can tell, my estimated due date is St. Patrick's Day! I always knew that I wanted my children to be close in age and this would put Cameron and his little brother or sister about 21 months apart. I got the positive digital result on 7/13 as seen above and and a confirmatory blood test done yesterday. It was also determined that I am anemic and have low iron. The nurse practitioner prescribed me prenatal vitamins with iron. Maybe this explains why I crave and eat ice all day everyday and am always freezing! Hopefully these prenatals will put me on the right track for a happy and healthy pregnancy! My first OB appointment is Aug. 18th. It seems so far away and I cannot wait to hear the little heartbeat. Cory and I are planning on taking Cameron with us to show him to Dr. Huffman who delivered him. I bet she will be shocked at our little chubster considering the peanut he was when he was born!

The last weekend in June we visited Cory's brother and our sister-in-law and niece and nephew! It was our first visit there since Carter was born! On the 26th we went to Chicago for the White Sox/Cubs game at US Cellular field for Cory's Father's Day present. Cam had a blast and waved to everyone and clapped. He made a few friends with all the people sitting around us. It is definitely something we would love to do again next summer if possible with the new baby!

We have had some very busy weekends the past month! During the week Cory and Cameron are home together while Cory is on break. Cameron is signed up for a Kindermusik class called Peek-a-boo I Love You which Cory takes him to every Tuesday (Cory is the only daddy in the class lol). Cameron loves being around the other kids and recognized all the music they learn. The CD that came in the class packet has really been a blessing as it calms Cameron down on the long car rides we have been taking lately.

4th of July weekend we travelled to Cory's mom's on Friday and she took us to the Evansville Zoo! Cameron loved seeing all of the animals. His favorite was watching the rhino walk around it's cage. A giraffe also came within 2 feet of Cameron's head while he was on my shoulders and he didn't even notice. We did get a picture though. It was great to visit Sally and we really enjoyed Cameron's first zoo trip. Above is a picture of Cory, Cam, and I at the zoo.

We then spent Saturday at Cory's dad's house with his family and watched the fireworks! We had a blast!

The following weekend we went to my cousin's wedding in Terre Haute and had a cookout/playdate for Cameron and two little girls my mom works with. This past weekend we went to Evansville because Cory was an usher in his cousin's wedding. It seems like this is the summer of weddings for us! We have 3 down and 2 to go!

Cameron is learning so much everyday and is a thrill to watch. He waves hello and goodbye and claps constantly for himself. He says mama, dada, dog, hi, hey, no, and is working on quite a few more! Last night, on our 2 year anniversary he finally walked 6 steps! Today he has taken quite a few steps on his own as well. He isn't walking around the house yet but I forsee that happening anytime once he gets a little more control over his wobble!

Cam is very into giving hugs and kisses. He blows kisses without the hand movement. It's more like he smacks his lips when you blow him a kiss lol It is absolutely adorable. Everyday when I get home from work, I sit on the floor and he crawls up me and wraps his arms around my neck. Then he gives me one of his big slobbery open mouthed kisses! It is the best part of my day!

We are so excited about what the rest of this year brings us with a new pregnancy and watching our baby boy develop into a toddler! Everyday with Cameron brings a sweet surprise of him learning something new. I hope to blog more often (I know I have said this before) and let everyone keep up on Cam's development and the new addition we are expecting to our family. Thank you to those of you who read this and I hope to bring you lots of joy in following along with our lives.

Happy 1st Birthday Cameron!

Our little boy is 1 today! I cannot believe how fast the past year has flown by and how much I have loved and learned in that time. We had Cameron's birthday party Saturday and it was a blast! We had a ton of people at our house to celebrate this special milestone. My mom's co-worker and friend, Connie, and her husband brought their three ponies for the kids to ride on. They were a hit. Cameron liked the ponies and we got to take a ride on a cart pulled by a pony.

The theme of the party was frogs and Cameron had a special birthday cake that he loved!

It was nerve-wracking hosting a 1-year-old's birthday party but everything went great. Cameron enjoyed playing in his new sandbox with his cousin Addy and the other kids. We had lots of family and friends come from out of town and it was nice to see everyone. Cameron also received many gifts that have overtaken our house. We can't thank everyone enough for attending the party and making Cameron so happy.

Earlier this month, Cameron and I traveled to Greencastle for a playdate with two of my old co-workers and their boys Andrew and Blake. Cameron had so much fun playing with his friends and it was great to catch up with mine! The boys played together nice and hopefully we will be able to get together again soon!

For Father's day, Cory, Cameron, and I went to my parent's house for lunch. Cameron had his first cheeseburger and loved it. Afterwards, we went to Marilyn's house to go swimming. Cam loves the pool and splashing. He kept trying to drink the water and would get flustered when he dipped his head in the water. It was funny to watch. Cameron got his daddy tickets to the White Sox/Cubs game this weekend at US Cellular field for Father's Day. We are super excited to get out of town for a weekend and take Cameron to his first baseball game! We will be traveling to Cory's brothers house and staying Friday night so we can visit with Derek, Tonya, Adalyn, and his Cam's new baby cousin Carter! Then we will continue on the Chicago for the game.

Cameron is learning or doing something new everyday. He is very close to walking on his own. He has taken one step but still hasn't gotten the courage to take those first few steps. He loves clapping for himself and playing on his new drumset! Papaw Jerry also built Cameron a playset and Cam loves to go in his swing. He has a few words down. Dada is the favorite but he also says Ma, Og (Dog), Hi/Hey, and Bye Bye (sometimes). My absolute favorite thing he does is give hugs and kisses. Everyday when I get home from work he will crawl up me, wrap his arms around my neck, and give me a kiss. It is by far the best part of my day!

Since Cory is home all summer with Cam, I signed them up for a Kindermusik class. They have been two times and Cory says that Cameron really enjoys it! I am hoping to sign him up again for a fall class so I can attend with him. Cam loves anything that has to do with music, dancing, or making sound.

We cannot wait to continue to watch Cameron grow over the next year and will definitely keep everyone updated on his growth and development.

We are officially the parents of a toddler!!!
